So my husband has a 9 year old from a previous relationship. He only recently started getting him for over nights (since we began living together). I have a child who is almost 5 (not his).

I'm not from the state we currently live in. We met in a different state (he was there for work) but my husband moved back here to be with his son. My husband recently told me if I needed to move back to florida he would come with me. Said it would break his heart to leave his son and he would have to travel a lot but he couldn't be without me. Now this instantly had me a little upset. Like do not choose me over your child! What type of woman/wife/stepmom would I be if I asked him to leave his child?! Now I am thinking this may have just been something he said out of love for me without truly thinking the implications, etc. You know like a lovers whispers at night.

I want to clarify I didn't get mad at my husband. I just said "no you wouldn't. And I would never ask you to leave your child". He adamantly says he would come with me. I know he loves his child, he is a great dad and father figure to my son as well.

Do you think this is a potential issue? Or do you agree probably he said without thinking much? Would you be flattered or uncomfortable?

This isn't a huge issue as I said I do not plan to ever ask him to leave his child.
