Can your toddler eat with a fork?

My son ate 2 of his pancakes this morning using his fork by himself! He’s 15 months 
(  the pancake was already cut up of course )

My baby know how it works and then he gets ill bringing to his face or the food falling off and he will throw it down and use his fingers. Same with a spoon.

My son gets the idea of how they work but chooses to just use his hands. He gets frustrated easily if he can’t get the food on the fork after 2 tries
