birth control

alright so this probably sounds dumb and irresponsible, but i got birth control on friday july 17th, and they said to wait a week to do anything. so i tried to wait longer than a week but my boyfriend and i have been together so long and i finally go bc and we both agreed for him to finish inside of me, and this was on the 25. so it was a week and a day after. was that okay to do? i dont have any pregnancy symptoms or a missed period i just want to know if that was too early
