When did you start giving your baby a binky?

I wanted to breastfeed, so I intended to wait. But it was in his mouth when I got to the nicu from recovery. My son weaned himself from it though, he decided he was done at 4.5 months.

I gave one to my daughter at birth and she loved it, always had it. Sometime around maybe... 9-10 months she just stopped using one and I threw them all out. I've always heard it's a struggle to take them away and for how much she loved hers, I thought it would be! But she quit on her own

Mine was about 3 weeks. It was hard to get her to accept it. We kept trying repetitively for like a month. Now at 5 months, she takes it occasionally only when she's fussy or napping. We don't offer it at nighttime or when she's playing or in the morning when she's full of energy. It works to not get her attached long term.

I've EBF'd all my kids and I tried right away. 2 of my 3 never took it and never took a bottle either. My newest (5 weeks old) has taken both paci and bottle and had no nipple confusion. I introduced the paci on day 3 and the bottle at one week.

With #1 it was right away just willingly and for really no reason... I was young and did what everyone told me to do. With #2 we didn’t even buy binkies and had every intention to not give them to him but he ended up in the NICU and it was needed to encourage sucking and feedings not on a tube. So we gave him one and let him have it till he was about 14 months! Now he’s 1.5 and binky free.

Right away. But only when I felt he really could have had it. Like as a last resort. Thankfully by 3 months he just stopped taking it. I heard it’s terrible trying to get them away from it.

I had intended to wait until breastfeeding was established to introduce bottles and pacifiers to my daughter.... buuuuuut she kind of threw several monkey wrenches into my plan. 😂
She was born early (36wks 1 day) and it was a rough (precipitous!) labor. When we finally got to the hospital (AFTER she had been born 😬) they rushed her straight to the NICU to check her over. When they brought her to my room there was a soothie pacifier in her mouth! They explained that they use them to ascertain if premie babies have adequate suck reflexes. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Since I'd read that pacifiers do seem to reduce SIDS I just decided to embrace the pacies! 
As for the whole "establishing breastfeeding" thing... Well, my poor little girl had an undiagnosed tongue tie until she was 8wks old. It's been a journey. We're currently battling a serious case of nipple preference with the help of an awesome LC.

I gave one to my son in the hospital. He wouldn’t calm without it. 
Call me dumb if you want but why do people call it a binky? I refuse to because it’s a pacifier but apparently there is a reason it’s called a binky that I’m missing. Please inform me. I might change my mind about the word.

About 2 weeks old and she loved it. She also lost interest on her own around 9 or 10 months old. It was perfect.
