Gastroschisis

My cousin was born with Gastroschisis (bowels were on the outside of the body). Had surgery as a newborn and all of that to fix it. Today she is a healthy 5 year old but hasn’t been feeling well the last few days. They took her to the ER and are keeping her for potential surgery. All the doctors are saying is that her appendix is dilated. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you know what it means? I’ve tried looking stuff up but a lot of it is in all medical terms and I don’t understand most the words🤣 I’m just looking for others experiences!
