Opinion on induced labor?

My doctor told me I have the option of getting induced for delivery. (Not for medical reasons, mostly for convenience) and I’m not sure if I want to or not. I always imagined waiting until the baby is ready on own is best choice. So I need some opinions and peoples experience which is better. Also this is my first baby if that makes a difference.

I personally wouldn’t unless it’s medically necessary for mine or baby’s safety.
To me it’s a bit irresponsible- mostly on the doctors part- to induce (especially early) if there’s no reason for it.

I have never been induced but I personally wouldn’t be induced unless medically necessary. You do what you want to do. Don’t let your doctor pressure you into induction just so it is convenient for them.

It doesn’t align with my beliefs on birthing my baby when he/she is ready. There are people who have been induced and had no issue. I’ve seen some information that suggests that having an induction increases your chances of needing to have a c-section. There is also some articles that refute that. From my understanding there is a culmination of things the body does to get ready for baby. To do that artificially when the body is not ready takes some work. 
In my personal experience, my water leaked without any signs of labor starting. Rather than waiting to see what happened, my doctor started me on pitocin. I was on it for a little over 12 hours without much happening when they inserted a foley balloon to open my cervix. I went from 2cm to 4cm but still not a whole lot anything happening. They needed to insert an intrauterine monitor for baby which accidentally broke my water, more or again I don’t know how to explain that part. I definitely had a gush of fluid which didn’t happen the first time my water leaked. Then things started to get going, I felt contractions and started progressing more. With all of that said, I was exhausted and hungry after being in the hospital for so long. I ended up getting an epidural which I was not a fan of and birthed my daughter like 36 hours later. It wasn’t a terrible experience but I don’t want to do it again if I don’t have to. Again, others have great inductions though. It’s a tough decision to make. Hope you find what you need to make a choice that works for you.

I was induced at 41 weeks and loved it. It was a great experience. I showed up in the morning, got the pitocin a few hours later followed by my epidural and was done by 1pm. It was very low stress and I only had to push through maybe 10 contractions. If your dr thinks it’s a good fit for you I recommend it. I’m definitely doing it again this next pregnancy so long as the baby is healthy/dr approved/etc.

I’ve had both my kids without induction. My first was 4 days late and my 2nd was a week early. I had easy labor and deliveries. Today is my due date with my 3rd and an induction is scheduled for next week. I’m still hoping he/ she comes on their own but my last baby was 9 pounds at a week early so my doctor doesn’t want me to go past 41 weeks and run into complications. Each situation is different. I agree with my doctor... im giving it a little time to happen on its own but will also do what they medically feel is necessary to have a safe delivery!

I was induced, basically out of convenience.
I know some people have horrrible experiences with being induced, but my induction wasn’t bad at all 🤷🏻‍♀️
It was calm and chill and I had a little bit of pain meds the whole time until it was time to get the epidural.
I started the induction around 8am and had my baby by 7:30pm.
I would do it again.

Don’t do it unless absolutely necessary. It hurts much more, baby may not be ready and there is a risk then that you’ll need an emergency c section

I was induced with my last and still never do it again unless absolutely medically needed.
