Getting induced?

The dr office I go to has 7 OB’s and unless you specify who you want to see every time they just put you with who is available. I have now seen all 7 for at least one visit. Which is good because who knows which one will be on call and actually deliver baby. 
But the doc I met with yesterday said she thinks I should get induced after I hit 39 weeks just because I live an hour from the hospital. 
There are two other hospitals 15 minutes from my house. So worst case scenario I go there. 
Should I get induced? Why? I’m not worried. I have had zero complications. Why would that be a good or bad idea?

With my second baby, my water broke at 8am and the hospital was an hour and twenty mins away without any traffic! We didn’t leave the house until 10am and we got into my delivery at 12noon. And after 12hours of waiting to dilate and to have an increase in contractions, I opted out for the c section and had her at 9:19pm.

Is it your first baby? 
Most first babies (and babies after) don’t come very fast. 
I live in LA and 1 hour is normal to get pretty much anywhere lol. 
I personally wouldn’t get induced unless I absolutely had to. 
I planned a birth center birth and went to 42 weeks and was no longer allowed to give birth at the birth center because you are then high risk. So I have to go to a hospital to be induced at 42 weeks. It was long and crappy. 37 hours of labor. My baby was not ready to come out. 
Other people have fine inductions. 
But I just don’t think living an hour away is a reason to do it...personally.

My doc suggested the same for 39 weeks because I’m an hour 15 or more, depending on weather. I’m good with it because I was induced last time (due to water breaking, but no dilation) and he’s confident I won’t have any issues being induced again. This is my second baby and I’ve heard and been told they come faster than the first? Plus, my husband works all over the state and I have a one year old so perhaps scheduling is better? 
I keep thinking it over in my head...I just hope I go into labor before I get induced.

Chances are you will make it to the hospital once you have a contraction... but if you don't you could go to the closer hospital... if nothing is wrong its literally up to you. Getting induced isn't that bad... even with my 4th baby I was in labor for about 5 hours before I let my husband talk me into going to the hospital

My hospital I wanted to birth at was an hour away and they never mentioned being induced unless I went over 41 weeks. They said once contractions start I could call labor and delivery after I've had consistent contractions for 45 minutes and they were between 5-7 minutes apart. I didn't end up giving birth there for other reasons but not by choice. I've heard that unless you are having some medical or health issues there really isn't a reason to be induced. I'm not a doctor but it sounds like she wants to induce you for convenience rather than you have a medical reason to make it necessary

Do the two hospitals have a maternity ward and NICU? You never know what could happen. But if they say get induced only because the hospital they deliver at is an hour away then decide if you really care if any of those 7 deliver or if a total stranger delivering is ok.

Do the hospitals closer to you accept your insurance? If it's out of network you'll likely be slammed with an even bigger bill 😳
 Unless you're high risk I would decline being induced if the only reason is you live 1 hour away. Atleast until you go past your due date. I went 1 week overdue and then practically begged to be induced because I couldn't take it anymore 😂

I would not get induced just for an hour’s drive. My water broke at home and I still would’ve had an hour to get to the hospital to give birth after.
