Ultrasounds?

Does anyone else go every 4 weeks for an ultrasound now? I know they're watching his growth but I can't think of any reason why other than me having high blood pressure. Im definitely going to ask at my next appointment with my actual doctor but just didn't know if this was common. My first pregnancy I had no blood pressure issues and only had 3 ultrasounds the whole time!

I wish! I only had a dating scan at 8 weeks and my anatomy scan at 20. I might get a growth scan around 34 weeks because he has been measuring ahead, but if they decide not to do that then I don’t get anymore ultrasounds.

My last baby was born with low platelets and although I don’t have NAIT, I could technically still develop it so I had an extra ultrasound at 26 weeks and I’ll be back 30+4. I’m assuming there will be another one because the farther along, the higher chance for blood mixing and they are watching for internal bleeding in the baby’s brain.

I went every 4 weeks for an ultrasound with my first baby, he was always measuring ahead and they were just checking growth and taking new measurements. He was very healthy and born at 37 weeks. I would ask just to ease your mind but it is probably just for measurements

High blood pressure can cause a restriction of growth for the baby so they are monitoring to make sure the baby is growing appropriately. It has something to do with blood flow and the placenta. This is my 3rd time being monitored, you’d think I’d remember the exact reason, but pregnancy brain has me forgetting

High blood pressure would definitely be the cause. Unless something more. But high BP is sign of pre-eclampsia and that comes with a bag of issues if not monitored frequently

I have one every 7 weeks... Untill I'm 32 weeks then it's going to be weekly because my last baby had placenta issues and was barely 5 pounds at 39 weeks so they wanna make sure baby girl is growing fine

I was going every month up until July (I’m 39yo so considered high risk). But bc everything has been going so great they said I don’t need an ultrasound until September 😱

I've had 4 ultrasounds so far in my pregnancy. Two of them were because I had some bleeding (everything was fine). I'm 27 weeks and I'm unsure if I will have another ultrasound. So, no, I'm not getting ultrasounds every 4 weeks but I wouldn't mind it.

I have one every 4 weeks as well. At first it was because of intermittent high BP as well as my BMI. They like to keep an eye on babies in larger women to make sure they don’t also grow to large. But now We are being monitored because of a placenta issue (circumvallate placenta) which can cause growth restrictions opposite of that of a person with a larger BMI as well as a higher likelihood of placental abruption/ preterm labor....... so my reasoning has changed but we still have scans every 4 weeks.   I would say yours is likely just due to the BP unless ur also on the plus size side of things and that could be an additional reason.

It’s probably due to the high BP. I had an extra US at 12 weeks because of bleeding during week 7, and will have an extra US in week 28 (in week 26 now) to check placental location since it was a little bit low at the anatomy scan. If not for these oddities I would have only had 2! Not sure how many will happen in the third trimester/as we get closer to November.
