Fever mess
Not sure if this is everywhere, but I had the HARDEST time finding someone to treat me with a fever. I developed a fever and chills on Friday night. I called the Postpartum Care Unit and they told me to wait to call my OB on Monday. So I waited. In hell. Sick as a dog. Until Monday.
My OB wouldn’t see me due to the 104.1 fever and told me to go to my family doc. Okay. So I call.
Won’t see me, tells me to go to urgent care.
Oof. Okay.
Called urgent care centers that take my insurance cause why waste a trip?
None will see me. One place says to go to the ER.
Okay so I call the ER.
“Oh yeah come in right away”
Seven hours later, potential Covid exposure, 3 perverts, a racist, a nasty woman with an attitude, a dude who talked to me for 2 hours about Jesus, bloodwork, lots of urine, xrays, and ultrasound, an exam, a gross ham sandwich and a cup of peaches later, they think it’s in infection in my uterus. Some fluids and antibiotics and I’m good to go. Started at 8AM and left the ER at 8:45PM. Thankfully the nurses were nice and brought me a hand pump but geez.
TLDR-I’d make a point to ask your OB’s about postpartum care and if a fever will be a problem. This was an absolute mess and I could’ve had the weekend with my little man.
