Potty training ...?

Question

How long did it take to potty train your little one & at what age did you start? 
Also any tips for a newbie about to start?

We started maybe a month before our daughter turned 2, but we didn’t really push it. But she’s 2 and 2 months now and basically fully potty trained. She’s only has 1 pee accident over the last week and she poops in the potty. The only problem is she still doesn’t tell us if she needs to go so I make her go potty every 2 hours or so.
We started with a little potty, one that’s her size ($25 on Amazon or something like that). Once she peed on that once it was really no problem after that. We switched to pull-ups and I just made her go every 60-90 min. After a month or so of that we switched to underwear. Which has led to plenty of accidents and pants that need to be changed but she could never feel when she was wet with the pull-up. Once she could feel it she started holding it in longer because she didn’t like messing her pants. And yeah, that was basically it.

We started around 2. Because she showed a lot of signs of being ready. She's 2.5 now and we aren't really pushing it. A few times a day we'll have her sit on the potty, but she never actually goes in the potty. I'm not too worried about it. She's getting more and more comfortable with it and that's really all that matters to me at the moment. Eventually she'll start actually going in the potty.

My daughter we tried between 2.5 and 3  because we just had our son. But didn't quite stick so we took a month off and tried after 3 and it took about 2 weeks for her to be completely accident free. Just starting our boy, and he is 2 this month.
Consistency.
And knowing that it probably won't happen over night, but constant positive reinforcement, and we did a treat for success. So a little candy or a sticker.
