Has anyone had iron infusions?

Question

So my bloodwork came back from the glucose test and my iron levels were pretty low. Like 29% I think? I wasn’t too surprised because they were with my last pregnancy and I have episodes where I almost pass out I’m so exhausted. My last pregnancy they put me on iron pills but for this one they’re sending me strait to iv therapy for iron. They prescribed me five sessions spaced three days apart and they start on Monday. 
Has anyone had this before? How does it impact you? Does it make you sick? Are they just trying to milk my insurance (and me) for money or would the iron pill really not be effective? 
Can you tell I’m not looking forward to it? 🤦🏻‍♀️
Any input would be great!

Also, depending on how far along you are, you may not have time for the pills to be effective which is why they may go straight to the infusions. Thats what happened with my last pregnancy I was too low too late so the pills wouldn't have worked

I’m still taking the pills , but i get my first iv in the morning and I’m not looking forward to it . But hopefully it works 🤦🏽‍♀️

I just got one iron transfusion done in both pregnancies there was no need for me to have multiple done, not sure why you have to have multiple I had next to no iron left in my first pregnancy they were surprised I was still standing, and all it took to fix it was a twenty minute iron infusion.

Its not bad. I didnt feel any different when they gave me mine, like it didn't give me any side effects or anything. I got them with my last pregnancy and have to do them this time again once they call me to schedule. Its nothing to stress about, I promise. I freaked out before my first because I thought it was gonna make me feel weird or sick or allergic reaction or something but I felt nothing. It just felt like I was getting iv fluids lol. Its better to do them now because my last pregnancy they did it too late and I got induced right after so I didnt have time to absorb it so I ended up needing 2 blood transfusions because I was too anemic after my emergency csection. So this time were doing them earlier to stay on top of it im about to be 31 weeks. We tried the pills first and they arent working i dropped even lower.

I got them with my last pregnancy and it made me feel so much better! I even stopped eating ice which I think it made me start doing. but now I’m back at it and my iron has dropped again this pregnancy but not too bad so I’m just taking pills  right now.
