Surgery update!
Sweet Autumn had her surgery last Friday. You guys were so kind with your sweet words and prayers. I thought I would offer an update and also just talk some stuff out.
She’s doing great. No issues and she is her normal, crazy baby self. Haha.
The surgeon who removed the “mass” said it was really not a mass at all. She said it was a lot of necrosis of her fat tissue, usually caused by a trauma. This blew my mind. My daughter hasn’t had any trauma to her leg that I could imagine would ever cause that. I was very concerned. They sent off cultures and a biopsy to be sure.
They called to tell me she’s a medical mystery at this point. Nothing points to there ever being a cyst or anything, but just a lot of inflammation and necrosis. They said they sent off more cultures and it could take several weeks to get results. They are going to discuss it amongst all the pathologists and dermatologists in the hospital on a conference call next month. They believe she may need further treatment, be it antibiotics or something.
I feel sad because I am confused and I have no answers. I feel like it’s not really overly serious though, and I appreciate how thorough they are being. I just want her to be all better. ❤️
