Dogs can smell hormones. Males can smell a female in heat up to 2 miles.  All my dogs while i was pregnant became very protective of me even early on.

Probably..my baby puppy who’s 8 now didn’t care I was pregnant lol. He’s a smart guy so I know he got it. With other friend who are pregnant he’s sooo ￼ gentle and caring.. me he was like meh!￼
