Words?

Anyone else's 15 month old not really speaking. She just said juice for the first time last night. She really doesn't talk only babbles. But she understands us completely both in English and in Spanish so im not sure if im just worried for nothing.
Update: she has a total of 12 words in her vocabulary 🤘

I’ve always read that babies who grow up in a bilingual household start talking a little later than those that grow up with only 1 language. So I wouldn’t be worried.
We only speak English and my 15 month old has only 2 words, his pediatrician said that’s all he needs right now. His next goal is 10 words by 18 months.

My son only say momma and daddy. But is babbling alot to. I mean all day long. 
He understands what we say. Like if he is climbing on something. I tell him No, 2 feet on the floor, and he puts his feet on the floor. I am personally not to worried about it yet.

Honestly, bilingualism should *not* influence or delay speech - studies have been done and this is not true. One thing I think it's important to know as far as speech is concerned is what is officially considered a word. Words, word approximations (for example saying baba for bottle, ada instead of agua), signs, and noises like animal noises all count as words if they are used regularly and independently. Also, in bilingual kids word count should be done as the total number of known words in both languages- when you get to that point.
Remember that the official milestone is 1 word at a year and 10 words by 18 months and there is often a word explosion around that age. But if you are really worried, maybe try talking to your pediatrician and get a referral to a SLP for an evaluation.

My May baby is already saying lots of words. Prob close to 50. My 2 year old really wasn’t saying that many until he was closer to 18 months. The words started coming out more after 16-17 month range! My pediatrician just wants 10 by 18 months. I wouldn’t worry at all right now! I’m sure it’s definitely different with the two languages too. Such a gift to be able to learn two from the beginning.
