Progesterone???

My doctor ordered me a prescription of progesterone to take twice daily after my lab work came back yesterday. Anyone ever have to take this? I'm 6 weeks 6 days. Just curious why I'd need it?

Your body (via the corpus luteum) needs to produce adequate progesterone until the placenta can take over production, I think by about 12-14 weeks.  If your levels are low, it increases the risk of miscarrying, so if your levels were found to be low you're being topped up to help prevent this.

Yep. I had 4 miscarriages and the only reason I have carried this one to 29 weeks is because of taking progesterone 2 times a day for the last 7 months. If they ordered it for you, you must be low. And that can cause a miscarriage.

This is my first pregnancy so I guess he is just taking precaution. I will say we struggled to get pregnant for over a year and 5 months and I'm under the care of a fertility doctor right now not an obgyn.

I took vaginal suppositories from ovulation though week 11. It helps prevent miscarriage.
