given birth @ 36 weeks?

Hi! Has anyone given birth at 36 weeks? I see some info on how it can cause your baby to go to the NICU,etc but has any mom had their baby perfectly fine?

My daughter was born at 36 weeks, she was fine, no NICU and we were sent home after 2 days!

I had an emergency c-section at 36 weeks due to advanced cholestasis. My daughter didn’t go to nicu but we stayed in the hospital for 5 days because her sucking wasn’t strong enough to go home. That’s developed around 36 weeks. She’s fine now at 2.

I had mine at 36 with no NICU time. That doesn't mean that it is normal though. Alot of babies still need time after that mine was just one that didn't. It's still preterm

I had my son at 37 weeks and no issues. We went home 48 hours later.

I had my daughter at 36 weeks, she was 6lbs 9oz however I had an infection in my amniotic fluid which caused me to go into preterm labor, baby swallowed fluid and had trouble breathing...had a week in a half NICU stay

I had both my babies early at 35 and 37 weeks. My 35 weeker stayed in special care for 5 days because he needed a feeding tube for his low blood sugar levels (I'm a diabetic so I knew they would need to monitor my baby once born) to ensure he was getting enough additional colustrum/formula to get his levels up. My second son went to special care as well, for blood sugar monitoring, but was back with me within a few hours and needed no additional time. There is a chance of NICU time with any early birth, and even for those who deliver full term, but keep in mind it may only be for something little monitoring-wise, compared to something that requires a bit more specialised care. Every bub is different, and as other posters have pointed out some premies don't even require any NICU stay. Try not to worry about something that may not even happen to you. Alternatively if its something that really has you anxious, talk to your OB about your fears and see if she has any input as to whether she thinks they're justified (ie do you have a pre-existing condition like I did that would make you think your bub may come early and need NICU time?) or if not maybe she can help put your mind at ease. I have a family friend and a cousin who both had theirs at 35 wks. Neither spent time in the NICU. Our friends did have to go back for a couple of days after they were discharged because she was jaundice but other than that they were perfect.
