Can I have a tic and not have tourettes?

I recently was discharged from the PBMU and over the week I was there I developed a few tics. Not verbal but definitely noticeable. A head twitch and wanting to tap something with my wrist. I only tic when I am agitated by noise, lights, overwhelm, and sudden movements. Is it possible I have tourettes? Can I have tics even if I don’t have tourettes?I would also like to know how I can try and get control of it with school starting. My grade isn’t the best of friends when it comes to previous mental hospital patients.

You can have a tic without Tourette’s. The best thing to focus on is how to calm yourself when overwhelmed. There are ways to help mute sound or light (I’m also sensitive to both so I understand). Work on ways to lessen your stress. 
When you find the right friends, they’ll love YOU and everything that comes with. They won’t care about tics (no one should but some people are plain jerks), they’ll be there to support and encourage you. Don’t try to be someone else to make friends, be yourself. I know it’s hard to believe that when you’re younger but I also know there are plenty of people out there who won’t care about all that.
