Does your job allow for physical distancing?

S

I’m asking because right now it’s back to school and schools are opening. The teachers Union is fighting for 6ft between student and teachers. And 190 000 teachers have vowed to file workplace safety complaints. The government has been back and forth with them and recently said that teachers need to pitch in and go back to work like other essential workers. Specifically pointing out that grocery store workers, doctors, and nurses, have showed up to work throughout the pandemic. So I’m wondering your thoughts on this? Does your job allow for reasonable physical distancing. Would you refuse work?

I work in a child care centre with toddlers. We are required to wear a mask and visor all day. There is no psychical distancing and we change diapers, wipe noses ect...obviously the children don’t wear masks. And our class sizes were reduced but are now normal sizes again. The only thing we demanded from the government was funding to buy PPE for staff.

I personally understand the safety concerns teachers have. I’m slightly jealous that I don’t have a union to look out for me. But on the other hand I see the governments point about stepping up and coming back to work. Its hard we all want to stay safe and healthy and keep our children healthy.
