When did tour baby’s outie become an innie?

Baby is 7 weeks old and still has an outie. Not sure if it will stay that way?

It might be an umbilical hernia in which case, my daughter’s healed shut by 3.  My other two kiddos had an innie as soon as their cords fell off.

Ask your pediatrician when you got for your 8week appointment. Really though it is nothing to worry about, slightly herniated belly button, it will stick out more when they have a fuller tummy. It will go away in a few years. I want to say mine told me it would go away around 4-5 years old.

My son has an outie something to do with how the cord is cut my mom told me that he mother gave her wraps to put around our belly buttons as an infant to hold the belly button down so its not an outie.

If the belly button doesn’t become an innie by time they are a year old, I think it’s safe to say it will always be an outie.

My son is 19 months and still has an outie (its more prominent when he eats a lot). Anyway the doctor told me he has a herniated belly button. There’s nothing to worry about as of right now. Sometimes it goes away on its own as he grows but if it’s till an outie by the time he’s 4 years old he may need to see a specialist and get surgery
