Pregnant? Or Not? So confused.

So, my period has been really regular since I had my two kids. And the last 6 months it always shows up the first week of the month but it's been going backwards by one day every month. Last month I started on the 1st. I'm now 4 days late and my cervix doesn't feel at all like it's about to do anything. I tested two days ago because I couldn't wait anymore, but it was negative. I've been on and off crampy and gassy for a week and a half and random nausea (which doesn't worry me because that happens sometimes before my period anyway). I plan to wait 2 more days and test again with a morning pee instead of evening like I did two days ago. I've never tested for a pregnancy this soon. With my last two I knew something was up and just didn't want to know so I waited almost two full weeks before testing. Right now would be not great timing for a new baby but I would welcome the blessing with open arms. Has anyone else had false negatives and had to wait a week past your expected period to get a positive???
