Intense, sharp pain in lower right abdomen

So I'm 15 and a virgin and at 3am this morning I woke up because of extreme sharp pain in my lower right abdomen. It was like in between my bellybutton and pelvis but closer to my pelvis. I am on my period rn and it's been a little heavier than usual and my cramps are slightly worse but other than it's normal. It went away after about 15 minutes or so and I could go back to sleep with a hot water bottle. Since then the sharp pain is still there but not as intensely.

My mom said it's fine and just cramps but I don't know. I've never felt period cramps like that before and I know that general area has both the appendix and ovary. Idk I have health anxiety should I be worried or is my mom right?
