Fingertip dilated?

This is my first and I am finger tip dilated at my doctor said yesterday 11/17. I'm 35 weeks, how long did it take everyone to dilate further/go into labor after you found out you started to dilate? I'm not due until December 19th.

I was 3cm dilated my last 3wks & 2cm for 2wks prior to that and ended up having to be induced. Everyone is different but so it could come on quickly or you could be in it for the long haul. Good luck!

You can stay where you are for weeks or dilate fully in as little as a day.  It just depends on what your body decides to do.

I know women who were dilated 4cm for 4 weeks before goin into labor. Unfortunately dilation has nothing to do with when you will go into labor

I made it to 40 weeks and never dilated. Had to be induced and only dilated like 4cm in 5hrs

I was dilated to a 7 with all three of mine and still never had a contraction or my water break. Lol With my son, I was 38 weeks, at a 7 and the amniotic sac was actually bulging out the opening and I still didn't have contractions or my water break! Lol I will admit that is highly unusual, but yeah, dilation doesn't always mean labor is eminent. Good luck on a safe and smooth delivery! :-)
