This is a trending topic on social media, in protest to them releasing the (very disturbing) movie Cuties and releasing a statement defending it. People are petitioning to have it removed, and are also cancelling their subscription packages.

For context, here is some information on the film:

Netflix released this statement: “‘Cuties’ is a social commentary against the sexualization of young children,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement to Variety. “It’s an award-winning film and a powerful story about the pressure young girls face on social media and from society more generally growing up — and we’d encourage anyone who cares about these important issues to watch the movie.”

Honestly, I have no idea why this was even filmed, let alone released and I feel that the protests are justified. I haven’t watched it but the clips I have seen circulating the internet are very disturbing and concerning.

Anyway, do yo agree with Netflix defending it as a powerful story, or do you agree with the people saying it’s in appropriate and sexualising children?
