I’m 3 months pregnant, is it too early to buy diapers and those things?

It’s my first baby and I’m trying to be as ready as possible. I’m a young mom(yes the baby was planned) but I understand that babies cost a lot when it comes to getting everything. I don’t like relying on people to buy things when it comes to baby showers. Im also the type of person that would rather buy it if I have the money myself since it makes me feel guilty(I’be always been that way).Also, because of the whole COVID, who knows what a baby shower will look like in a bit considering it gets better and then worse every month. I’ve already bought a lot of things for the baby. I’m just not sure when to start buying diapers and diaper wipes. I heard diapers are good for at least a year and a half(don’t quote me, I read it a few weeks ago and can’t fully remember)

I wouldnt go crazy on diapers and whipes cuz u dont know what your child will be able to wear everything eles go for it

You won't know what brand works until baby is here. Some have allergies or issues to certain brands and with covid they aren't letting exchanges happen so I would wait.

Id hold off- I'm a single mom and bought so many newborn diapers - he didn't wear them after like a month , so I have it away. Second my son had sensitive skin so I couldn't use pampers wipes I use free and clear wipes. Third, my son pees alot so pampers diapers always leaked from the beginning and i had to switch to huggies / huggies overnights.  
Good luck! Maybe ask for the baby shower to get you amazon gift cards or gift visas so that way you can order them!!!!! - I couldn't go out all the time when I ran out and ordered them! It was helpful and I still do that

I never buy too many diapers too early cause I don’t want to be hassled binging them back if baby doesn’t like them/they cause rashes (all diapers can do this, it really is kind of random how your baby reacts). I buy one box so I have some at home. I buy wipes (but not so much that it feels like they’re taking over the room), because I buy scent less and gentle, because they always work. I buy clothes and other items whenever I want really, bought everything needed (car seat, stroller, carrier etc) before 25 weeks with both my babies, because I like to be prepared and ready. Then I spend the last trimester just buying anything that is too cute to resist or extra (room decorations, special onesies, etc).

I wouldn’t buy diapers and wipes yet as you won’t be able to return them after 30-90 days depending on the store’s return policy and not every baby works with every diaper.  
Beyond that, I had everything I needed by 14 weeks pregnant.

I’d wait until closer to the due date so you won’t have any return issues. When you do buy them, get a few different kinds in small packs so you can see what works best for your baby. Some brands will even give you samples in a registry bag. I know Target and Amazon both give you registry bags if you create one with them. You could start doing that right now if you’re looking to start planning ahead.

I also wouldn’t go crazy stocking up on diapers or wipes since you don’t know if your baby will have super sensitive skin or something. I recommend adding stuff you want to buy to a registry that way you can keep track of it and you can qualify for free gift bags/boxes from registering in places like Amazon and Target. Also many people may *want* to buy you something to celebrate the new baby no matter what happens with regards to a baby shower. It won’t hurt to make a registry or two, plus you can usually buy the remaining items from your registry at a discount later on! Diapers too, Amazon gives you some percentage off buying diapers the first year I think if you register with them.

No harm in buying things like diapers and wipes early, but a little tip- tape the receipt onto the box so that if you have to return it (because baby has a reaction or outgrew the size you bought) it is easier to return!
