Inappropriate Mask đˇ
I read an article about a 5th grade boy who got in trouble for wearing a Hooters mask at school. The boy was sent to the principals office and was told it was inappropriate because âit expresses a womanâs bodyâ and it went against the code of conduct and dress code. The father was upset and did not understand why he was in trouble for a mask with the name of a restaurant on it. He said âthere is nothing wrong with a restaurantâ, and went on to explain how the family eats there all the time, watches sports, has wings, and chocolate cake...The father said there shouldnât be anything offensive about a womanâs body anyways.
Do you think the boy was fine wearing that specific mask? Or was it inappropriate and the principal did the correct thing by making him remove the mask?

*personally I believe that the school did the right thing. If he was wearing a mask that said âchiliâsâ or âMcDonaldâsâ or âbuffalo wild wingsâ, it probably wouldnât have mattered. But I think the issue is because womenâs breasts are often referred to as âhootersâ in a derogatory way, and the restaurant is known for its waitresses dressed in slightly âprovocativeâ clothing. (I donât personally think they dress badly, they dress how any waitress in a sports bar dresses. But Iâm just pointing out thatâs the typical reference of that particular restaurant.) Even if it wasnât a restaurant, I think the term alone is questionable based on how it is used...
