Doppler?

Question

I’m high risk and I have anxiety about losing my baby in between appointments. I’m considering getting a Doppler to ease my mind, but I don’t know which one is best. Any recommendations?
Also, when is the earliest you can hear a heartbeat with a doppler?

Dopplers can cause more anxiety. If you can’t find the heartbeat or if you are getting the noises of the blood flow instead etc. So they aren’t recommended. That being said not advisable to use until 16+ weeks and even then some companies say not until 28+

If you go into it knowing there’s a chance you won’t hear it easily if at all early on, there’s no harm at all in getting one. I got one around 9 weeks (I bled from 5-10 weeks) and was able to pick up the HB around 11 weeks. There were a few times after that I couldn’t find it but that was to be expected.

I was the same way so I bought a doppler. It was worse. I talked to my doctor and she said they arent reliable, they cant use it until 16wks-ish, and also if we dont know what we are doing we cant pick up on the things that need monitoring. Mine was a waste of money. I never could find her heartbeat. As soon as we got to the doctor they could find her right away and her heartbeat was very very strong.

I was told that its not good for baby to expose him/her to frequent doppler usage. So make sure you research if its safe for baby before you commit.

If you already have anxiety I definitely wouldn’t suggest getting a doppler. They can help cause unnecessary worry. I used to be able to find my daughter just fine and these past couple months she plays tag with it and doesn’t want to be found.
