Do you think animals can predict labor?

I’m almost 37 weeks and both of my cats are following me EVERYWHERE I go and seem anxious whenever I leave them for more than five minutes, which is unlike them.

With my first, the dog (who was really more my husband's dog) was obsessed with me. The day before I went into labor he kept following me and laying his head on my belly every time I sat down!

With my first, our one cat wouldn't leave me alone the night my water broke. He was everywhere I went. We don't let the cats sleep in our room, and when I went to bed he sat outside my door crying, which he hadn't done in years. I woke up an hour later because my water broke, and the car followed me around the house until we walked out the door.

My dog (Saint Bernard) has turned into a 160lb lap dog, following me from room to room. 😂 They know something is up.

It’s GREAT that animals follow us around. The human/animal bond is another way to get oxytocin, the hormone that creates contractions. Oxytocin is released when we pet our animals (why we have therapy animals in hospitals and schools now), so if you want to get labor going, give your fur babies lots of pets. It might not be enough oxytocin to start labor but you never know!

Yes they can. My dog knew that I was in labor before anyone else did. He became extra clingy.
