Can I shower after my water breaks?

Am I able to shower after my water breaks ? I would like to be clean before going to the hospital, or do I need to rush straight away?

Shower and stay home as long as you can. My water broke and I didn’t start having intense/consistent contractions for hours. I wish I would have labored at home until I hit the 5/1/1 mark.

Yes you can shower, and depending on where you live, id actually advise it, because in some places like near where i live the hospitals are not actually allowing women to shower or bathe during labour “because of covid” 😡

Shower then head in, especially if your group beta strep is positive bc you’ll need to be started on antibiotics right away. Also if you’re planning for an epidural you might wanna get there bc it takes a bit to be admitted and get all that set up

I showered and got things together and headed to the hospital. I wouldn’t risk laboring at home. Others might be more comfortable with it though.

Yes, but idk if you’ll want to. Once the water breaks contractions are intensified 100%. I’d recommend showering before if showering at home. 
I would also recommend laboring in the shower once at the hospital. It was my favorite part of my labor

I would say it depends on your contractions and how close together they are as some women labor for 24 hours and others only labor for 3. But I know I’ve been told you can shower before heading to the hospital.
