I had to do that to an ex because he’s a narcissist with amnesia. It’s a great way to show someone the things they say even if they try to play a different story after. Catch them red handed in their lies

Depends if he was using it to self reflect on things he needs to work on or is going to therapy to work through whatever issues he has that presents itself during the arguments.

Depends why. If he’s using it against you, like, in a degrading way, I don’t think that’s ok. 
But if there’s threats or something, then I think it is. 
About 2 years ago, I recorded my ex because he started scaring me by talking about making pipe bombs and wanting to buy a bullet proof vest without really explaining why. (There was a failed one found in the small town he lived in and he posted the link of the news article to his moms Facebook page)

Depends on the purpose of recording it. My partner records some of our arguments so that he can listen to them privately and see what he needs to work on and a way that he can better understand his anger.

My bfs mom records the fights with her and her husband. Hes a narcissist so she likes having them so other people hear how he treats her and for possible evidence if she needs to get out
