Formula and whole milk?

Has anyone started there little on a little bit of whole milk? Mine is still on formula, which is so expensive. I’ve had friends tell me they started slowly switching around now...

I BF but you’re not supposed to transition until 1, as they get their nutrition mostly from BM/formula at this age, not food.

We just had our 9 month checkup today and the dr said absolutely no whole milk until at least 11.5 months but preferably a year.

No. Personally it’s way too early. Formula/breastmilk really is important until a year old for their nutrition and babies younger than a year really have a harder time processing the milk. I waited until 2 weeks prior to our son turning one to start with a little milk just that way by 12 months he would be straight onto milk and no more formula. And even then I only did 25% milk for a week, then 50% milk the following week. I’ll do the same with our daughter now.

With my first I began the transition (VERY SLOWLY) around 11 months. My oldest loved it. She would go around in her walker drinking her milk and yelling YUM YUM!
My SIL said her youngest naturally weaned off of formula at 9 months and that he would not drink it anymore and would only accept whole milk.

Most public health organizations recommend waiting until a year to switch to cow milk, however in Canada it is recommended to wait "until your baby is between 9 and 12 months old. Start with homogenized cow milk (3.25% M.F.)." for transitioning to cow milk. I'd say try to keep using formula as long as you can, and certainly would recommend amping up solid food if you're cutting back on formula, as cow milk is not nutritionally complete.
