am i a bad mom?

i nursed my son for an hour. fed him an oz if breast milk cause he still acted hungry. tried rocking him he just wants to eat even though he’s just spitting it back up. he kept bobbing his head on me to eat. 
he kept crying so i put him down and took a 10 minute shower and cried. i feel so bad cause i didn’t know what else to do i just needed a break. he’s calm now i put him in the swing with his pacifier. i feel so horrible. like why couldn’t i have done that in the first place. i let my newborn baby scream his head off for 10 minutes all by himself.

It’s alright, you are just human. He won’t remember and what you did is okay! He is your first child then? Just listen to his cues. 
If he is still rooting, he is still hungry. Don’t let him go hungry especially since you can’t breastfeed a baby too much. An ounce doesn’t seem a lot of milk depending on how old he is. Just feed your child until he is satisfied, leaves the breast, dozes of or stops sucking. These are cues of satisfaction.
If he is tired he will show you - he will yawn, rub his face or his ears, have small sleepy eyes and open and close his eyes slowly. Then you can carry him around until he starts to doze of and gently lay him in the crib. Only give the pacifier if he fusses because he is put down. 
Sometimes a newborn just doesn’t want to be left alone, which is normal! A baby left alone in the cave is a baby that wouldn’t survive, so they depend on being carried everywhere. Use a baby wrap or just your arms and take him into the bathroom with you. Make sure it is warm enough and place him safely on a blanket. Newborns enjoy the sound of the shower, it is like white noise and the warmth of the water is soothing. 
You can always check the diaper if he fusses, some babies cry a little when they pass a stool. And that’s about it 😄 if your baby is healthy, this will satisfy his needs and minimize crying. Just watch you kid closely until you learn his cues and different cries. You do great!

Someone posted this the other day and it is a helpful reminder that letting your baby cry does not make you a bad mom! 
Our doctor told us that if baby is crying and won’t calm down that we should put her in her crib and walk away so we can collect ourselves and then go back and try again- which is exactly what you did and that makes you a good mom! You recognized that you needed a little time to let your feelings out before going back in.

Not at all! It is so stressful and sometimes you just need a few minutes to yourself to breathe
If you don’t see your baby actually swallowing then he most likely is just trying to soothe himself
Does he take a pacifier ?

I’m 24 weeks pregnant and been told all sorts of stories but this one, your not a bad mum at all sometimes in life we struggle and being a mum can be hard at times, letting our babies cry isn’t a bad thing it’s a natural way of showing emotions and a baby cries because he/she doesn’t know how else to communicate, it could be frustration, maybe even toothache but as long as they know their mummy’s are there for every pain, hunger; thirst and comfort they will be okay please don’t worry that you have done a wrong thing x

He could be cluster feeding, normal for him to constantly want to eat. Good for you to take breaks as it can be frustrating. You’re doing great!

You are a good mom. Sometimes everyone involved just needs a breather and that’s ok. No harm will come to him just because he is crying. As long as he isn’t sick. Maybe get some location and rub is belly.

You definitely aren't a bad mummy. You done the best thing. You put him in a safe place and got away from the situation before it became too much for you. And then came back in once you had taken 10mins to calm down. Every mummy has days were they struggle and cry and just want to get away. Its important to look after you too
