Do people not wash their kittens? 🤣🤣

So I change my kittens blankets twice a day. Momma cat cleans herself, and I bathe the babies.

They actually enjoy the baths, I have a picture of one stretching out her legs and paws so good like “YASSS” from getting her back scrubbed

You are totally able to bathe kittens. The trick is to avoid getting soap or water on the head: ears/eyes/ nose because that can cause infection, their faces get wiped with a wet wash cloth. My oldest cat molly would still let me bathe her if I found it necessary because she was literally raised in my best friends bra from birth I guess. I don’t know what happened to Molly’s mom. She bottle fed her from birth until 8 weeks and then at 12 weeks is when I adopted her. She used to have very bad behavior issues from losing her mom so early and I’ve had to work with her hard to teach her how to act right. So I’m not recommending people do this, don’t take a baby from it’s mom too soon unless the mom is literally dead or too sick or rejects them. Molly didn’t have a mom, so a human had to be one for her. What I’m saying is, it’s okay to bathe cats. It’s just that cats HATE water and adult cats know how to properly clean themselves (UM, excluding molly. I had to clean her butt for her until she was like a year old and then she one day just realized she could clean her own butt.)

And molly although a pain in the butt at first, best decision I ever made to adopt her.

ANYWAYS. I was just asking because when I saw the vet yesterday she was picked one up and said “oh wow” and sniffed it and I was like “uh🤣 what’s wrong?” And she said “nothing. They smell really good and are really clean little kittens. When people bring me kittens they stink bad and have dirt and crap on them.”

No ma’am, I walked into my bathroom one day which is where momma keeps them and kittens (I mean so far) aren’t messy. Their mother keeps them cleaned up and licks up their pee and poo. Sorry lol I mean that’s just a part of every animals life ever 🤣 but god they had the worst flippinG BO One day that I could not breathe in my bathroom. I have these wipes for cats that clean their coats and make them smell good and I used that on mom and then I bathed the kittens with soap and water.

They still love me though and cry for me to pick them up and hold them. They are the sweetest babies and even the vet literally asked me for one.

But the one she wants is the one I want, I’m absolutely in love with this kitten but she would be my 4th forever living with me cat.

And that’s insane. But man she cute. I’m really really trying to talk myself out of keeping her and letting the vet have her. I applied at the vets office so maybe if I can manage giving her away to the vet, I’ll just ask to see her sometimes lmfao.

Don’t judge me. I know they’re just fosters i should NOT be getting attached but for some reason the second I saw her I was like oh man... oh man oh man I have a fourth cat

And if you didn’t see my update about everything that happened at the vets office, momma has been fully dewormed and tested negative for all of the common diseases stray cats carry around. After she tested negative she got fully vaccinated.

She still has worms so the vet gave her a shot in to kill them off and then oral dewormer as well. She also put the kittens on oral dewormer because the worms can spread to the kittens through their moms milk. She did this as a precaution.

And about the kittens, they’re still perfectly healthy as they possibly can be. They’re happy and playful and fat and all 5 of my foster cats and all 3 of my forever cats have absolutely zero fleas which makes me super proud of myself because right before I got her, my cats and my whole house had fleas so bad that i had to get it treated and I was going to lose my mind and burn my house down but then I got it taken care of and then I got momma cat. not ONE single flea is in this house on these cats. HELL yeah to that.

I asked her when I could get her spayed and wanted to do it ASAP.

momma cat is scheduled be spayed in 3 weeks, that will make the kittens 6 weeks old. The vet told me that she will still produce milk for about a week or a little more so they will be weaning just in time.

I love this stuff y’all. This is why I’m so excited to try and get a job at this vet.
