Has anyone had a cerclage due to insufficient cervix?

I'm 16 weeks pregnant and lost a baby at 18.5 weeks last pregnancy. We have concluded I just have an insufficient cervix. My cervix is 4.2 cm so it's actually kind of long, but I guess it's just weak. My cervix is currently dielated to 1 cm so I'm going to have the cerclage at 2 pm today and I'm also on weekly progesterone shots. Has any one gone through this? Has anyone also had a spinal anesthesia for this? How was it all? Please let me know!

I have! I lost my first baby, a boy, at 18 weeks. I'm now pregnant with my Rainbow Baby and because of the circumstances that led to my miscarriage last year, this pregnancy is labeled a high risk pregnancy due to an incompetent cervix. So I've been on weekly progesterone shots since 16 weeks, pelvic rest since 16 weeks, and have had the cerclage since 18 weeks.

My cervix was measuring great (4.2 - 4.4) for the longest time, then at my 18 week appointment they saw that just in one week my cervix went from a 4.4 to a 3.2 and was beginning to funnel. Even though my cervix was still measuring great, the rapid change in length in just 7 days was why my doctor made me get the cervical cerclage the next morning.

I got an epidural for the procedure (my first epidural ever) and it was not bad AT ALL. It was my first procedure/surgery, first epidural, I HATE needles, and I was terrified something was going to go wrong and I'd lose this baby as well..so really I was just terrified. Turns out getting the IV was the most painful part of the whole process. The procedure lasted 10 - 15 minutes.

They kept me at the hospital for a couple hours after it was all done just to monitor me and my baby to make sure everything was okay. After that, seeing all was well, they sent me home. I had light cramping and light spotting (which they say is normal) for the rest of the day, but that's it.

My cervix continued to thin, but when it reached the stitch it stop. The funneling reversed itself as well. Ever since then I've had a steady cervix measurement. I'm now 36 weeks 4 days with a healthy 6+lb baby boy! Last Monday was my last progesterone shot and this coming Monday (at 37 weeks) I'm having the stitch removed.

If you plan on having more id look into an abdominal cerclage (should be done at 10w and has a higher success rate) or having the vaginal cerclage by 13w it has a higher success rate if done before there's a problem either way you'll need the weekly progesterone :/ but my best friend had a vaginal and I have abdominal

My cervix started shrinking after 19wks. So at 21wks it was .4cm so i had an emergency cerclage. Had a spinal. I still get numbness in my thighs from it when i stand for more than 10mins straight. doc says normal side effect. Hopefully it goes away. Its been a bit over a month now since. My cervix is still short but holding. 
With my first daughter i didnt have these issues and had an epidural during labor which lead to a csection. With the spinal for the cerclage the numbness was more intense. I didnt feel ANYTHING. including my throat, so i couldnt swallow. It was scary and i threw up after the actual surgery because i held my nausea in until it was over. That was the only thing that sucked. It didn't effect my breathing it was just swallowing. More awkward than anything. Afterward it took 2hrs for the spinal to wear off. Spent 2 days in hospital. Barely any pain after. Only thing thats awkward is when baby kicks the cerclage. It sends a sharp pain up my body. But doc says its normal and cant avoid it. But part of the deal.
