Rude Professor!!

Te

I’m an undergrad student. I was in class today and, because I’m nearsighted, I could not see an image on the screen very well. I raised my hand and asked the professor to clarify for me what that image was, and his response was “maybe you should get glasses ”.

Now, I know this professor pretty well, so I assumed he was bantering with me. I laughed at his semi-rude remark and responded “I have contacts in already”. He tells me to sit in the front from now on to which I agreed. All the while I was laughing about the exchange because I thought he was joking....

Come to find out, after class, that he thought I was being rude in my response about ‘already wearing contacts’. He said I am wasting class time by asking him to clarify that image.

I AM AT A LOSS. I don’t understand how I was rude? I don’t get why that’s a “waste of class time”. I pay money to sit there and ask as many questions as I need to. ONE damn question was about not being able to see..... I realize now that HIS response was the rude one. If I didn’t know him as well as I do, I feel like I could’ve reported him or something. Am I wrong?

Could someone tell me why or how I was rude? Maybe there is an outside perspective I could hear that would help me see this from his point of view. Honestly from where I stand, I don’t feel like I did anything wrong, but I am 100% willing to hear what I could’ve done better.

I wish I could elaborate more on this, but the exchange really was so short and simple. I’m surprised he got so damn pressed over it - which consequently has me pressed now too! 😭
