Short LP due to late cycle ovulation?

Any ladies out there have experience with late cycle ovulation and a short LP? If so, what steps did you take?

I don't ovulate til cd20 and I have 3 boys :) 31 day cycle

So who has found that u are definately ovulating before the positive OPK?

​I'm taking b6 this cycle so hope this might help my LP.

​I usually O on cd15 but it was 16 this month I suspect this was bc I started taking b6 before O but I stopped around cd12 when CBFM was not high like normal and then re started taking b6 after O

I have the same thing. I was not getting a positive opk until CD 18 or 19. And then I would start spotting 6-7 days later, even though AF didn't come full flow until 4-5 days after that, so I still technically had a 28 day cycle.

​I saw a RE who prescribed clomid and then progesterone after I ovulate. I've read up a lot on luteal phase defects, and this seems like the usual treatment plan. We're also doing IUI because of my husband's SA. We're on cycle #2 now.

​One other thing they found was that my thyroid was borderline low. My TSH was 3.7 which is in the normal range, but high for pregnancy (should be less than 2.5. High TSH means low thyroid function). So they started me on synthroid. This made me ovulate earlier (day 12-15), but I still had the early spotting. (This was before the clomid and progesterone)

​Thyroid and prolactin problems are know causes of LPD - so definitely get those checked.

I've done all of those things too :-) My doc didn't believe that I was ovulating late until I took the blood tests.

Hi, basically she for whatever reason was hesitant to believe the opk and thinks I could be ovulating earlier. ( not sure I agree) but ordered blood tests and a hsg test( to make sure my tubes aren't blocked) and a semen analysis for my husband. Hope that helps! Good luck!!

Lauren- Yes I'd live to hear what you find out! I've been taking vitex for 2 months (haven't noticed a big diff. yet), and next month I'm going to try clomid (I always ovulate but I ovulate late in cycle).
