Mono/di?

Question

From my last ultrasound at 7 weeks, my Dr said my twins each have their own placenta, but it appears (since hard to tell off the pics) they are in the same sac. Tech wasn’t sure at the time of ultrasound either. We will confirm at my next ultrasound in a couple weeks. Dr is saying mono/di twins, but this seems to be different than what I see described in other posts. Any insight appreciated! 😊

Twins cannot have two separate placentas and share a sac. So either they have separate placentas and do not share any sacs (di/di), or they share a an outer membrane (not amniotic sacs) and share a placenta making them mo/di. A lot of times you see doctors mistaking mo/di twin for mo/mo twins at an early ultrasound. But, I’ve never heard someone mistaking di/di with mo/di and vice-versa

Mo/di twins will share a placenta, and chorion. That is the outer part of the sac. They will have separate amnion. That is the inner part of the sac. So many people don't understand that the amnion isn't the only part of the gestational sac so you will get alot of misinformation
