Could use some advice, recommendations, to hear similar stories and if there are success stories!
It has been about about a year and a half since we found out that my husband had zero sperm count after 2 tests. The doctor we went to, a urologist who specializes in male infertility, told us that our only option was to look for semen in my husbands testicles by cutting them open and looking through every crevice for semen. He told us to go to a fertility clinic and first see if IVF is something that we would be able to afford or want to purse. But at this time there is no logical reason, that we know of, as to why he would have a zero sperm. All of his blood work so far has come back normal, he hasn’t had any injuries or illnesses. The that boggles me and gets me a bit upset is that the doctor hasn’t requested an ultrasound to see if there is a blockage or anything of that nature. I asked the doctor if that could be done and he told us that the only option would be to cut him open. In these difficult times it is really hard to trust anyone. Do you think he is just trying to make more money? Should we get a second opinion and if so will we have to start the process all over again? I do want to get a second opinion but I feel like I need recommendations for urologists here in San Antonio, TX or the surrounding locations. I have family in both Houston and Dallas so any recommendations for doctors in that area would be ok too.
