How do you feel about turning 40?

Soon i will be turning 40 and i feel blessed I made it this far Dont get me wrong but a part of me feels sad. I can’t help it Im sorry. I feel my life will soon be over. I don’t feel 40 but i work with young girls in her 20s and I can’t help to feel im old. I don’t know why. I know i am being ridiculous but it just a feeling that comes over me and takes over. Im very grateful that i made it to this age because not everyone gets that chance but im also afraid. Its a new chapter in my life. Can anyone relate to what im feeling? How do you cope with that feeling? Thank you.

I’ll be 40 next year and I’m excited. Forty isn’t old, every year I’m more “me”. I’m confident and happy- I wouldn’t trade places with anyone younger. Aging gets a bad reputation but I’ve thought it to be great.

I turned 40 in July and was really dreading it, I’m such a baby about getting older and honestly thought I was going to have a melt down.  Turns out as it was just as lockdown restrictions ended and I was just grateful to be able to get outside again! My husband and I went to the zoo and I spent the day yelling childish things whilst holding a balloon and eating ice creams so it really wasn’t so bad 😂😂😂 I’m now pregnant with our first child and so being 40 has fallen off my radar of things to worry about! 
You’ll be fine though in all seriousness.  I love knowing who I am and what I stand for and being taken seriously at work as an expert in my field.  I wouldn’t swap it for anything 😁

Im going through this too. I thought it was only me. A part of me its grateful but a part of me is afraid as well. I dont even have children yet and i feel very judged as well because of it.

Not yet there but...Every year I do think about how I’m getting further away from what seems to be the “golden” special years (aka 20s). It feels weird, until I start thinking about all the cool things I can do or achieve at “this” stage of my life. I also reflect on my mom and other older women, who are active and doing fun activities- living their lives- and the weird feeling lessens. Honestly, if you take care of yourself, you likely have more years ahead of you than the 39 you’ve already been through! I say this as someone who’s grandma just died in her mid 90s and great-grandma who died at 124! 😆
