Anyone have advice for starting birth control?
Hi, I’d really appreciate some guidance on where to start with getting prescribed the pill. I’m 18 and living on my college campus, however I still have the same health insurance (Kaiser) that I had with my family.
I really would like to avoid having this go through my parents and that’s why the Kaiser system worries me a bit. I have my own credit card and I believe that our accounts are disconnected, but I feel like some financial aspect could be shown to them. (Like a statement showing there was an unknown copay charge on their account. Also I know this sounds really immature of me to not want to address my parents but I literally cannot face them with this, we’ve previously had not-so-great interactions on this topic.)
Disregarding that, does anyone have any advice on where or how to start? I’ve never been the ob-gyn or had a doctor address my sexual health at all (my pediatric doctor never even asked me about my period, which, turns out, they did to all my friends!)
Unimportant, but the reason for this is I was hooking up my exbf/bf (lol) and afterwards we realized that the condom broke 🙃 We got plan B and hopefully acted accordingly, but it was a reminder that things don’t always go as expected. So now I think I have to grow up and start birth control.
Anyways, thank you for any sort of help, opinions, advice, or anything else! :)
