So my son has been using his potty ALOT lately. He occasionally will say he needs to go, but I cannot consistently get him to tell me he needs to use the potty. I’ve tried underwear and going bare bottom, but I’ve noticed with nothing on at all, he just holds his pee and won’t use the potty unless I make him or the second I put his diaper back on (for naps) he pees in them.

I fully feel like he understands and when he uses his diaper I say “where do we need to pee/poop at?” And he says “potty!” But getting him to tell me is a total nightmare. How do I get past this stage?
