Blood test before first ob appointment?

Hi is it necessary to get a blood test for Hcg, progesterone etc after BFP? My first OB appointment is not until 8 weeks, I’m 3.5weeks now. My pcp said they only do urine test but not blood confirmation. I heard low progesterone can be found by blood test early. Just really wonder what we can do in this 4-5 week wait 😂

It’s not. And they don’t usually worry about low progesterone causing miscarriage until after 3 losses most places unfortunately. 
My doctor did a test when I came in at 7 weeks and ordered regular labs but none of those contained HCG or progesterone. We did have an ultrasound and saw a viable pregnancy but it could have changed after that since it was only 7w along but it’s not necessary.

Typical they usually do it for reoccurrent MC, history of ectopic, and fertility meds/procedures.

I didn’t have a blood test confirmation for either pregnancy. Just the normal blood work after my 12 week appointment

Mine did a blood test at my 12 week appt. they didn’t draw blood the first time confirming the pregnancy. They did mine then so I didn’t need to do an extra one.
