Cluster feeding and increased bleeding?

My bleeding was almost nonexistent but now at 1 week postpartum my bleeding is randomly getting heavy after cluster nursing my son. I'll randomly have a gush of dark red blood and a decent sized clot or two and then minimal to no bleeding for hours and then it'll randomly happen again. The gushes are pretty extreme. Normal?

My bleeding speed at like 2 weeks for a week then resumed lightly. I've heard that breast feeding makes your uterus contact so it makes sense that, being only 1 week pp, you're still bleeding. However, if you're concerned, it wouldn't hurt to put a call into your doctor. Mine said any clots larger than a quarter are worthy of a phone call.

Your uterus will contract with nipple
Stimulation, which is probably what's causing the gush. The blood is probably in a pocket (clotted) and when the uterus contracts it's causing it to dump. Think of it like a bowl spilling to the side. Dark red blood is old blood. Bright red blood is fresh--- if it's bright red I would be concerned more so, but follow up/call with your doc.

i just had the same thing kinda happen to me, i sat down to pee and felt something big coming out and when i looked in the toilet it was a huge clot, then instantly i started bleeding bright red, what can this mean
