Can you still take the pill if you already ovulated and had unprotected sex?

We had unprotected sex too close to ovulation and trying to prevent a pregnancy. Will taking the pill help? It’s been like 2 days since ovulation.

How are you confirming ovulation? BBT? Ultrasound? Are you tracking anything? CM or OPKs?
If not, don’t assume you’ve already ovulated just because the app said so. It’s not a reliable way to determine ovulation. Call your doctor and request their advice.

Quite literally will do nothing at that point. The pill suppresses ovulation to prevent sperm from fertilizing the egg. At 2 days after ovulation, it's too late for that. Fertilization would've already taken place and at that point it's about if a potentially fertilized egg is going to implant, which the pill is not designed to prevent.

Nope. Plan B prevents you from ovulating (or at least delays it). So if you’ve already ovulated, it would be pointless.

The pill is to stop ovulation, so you can’t stop something that has already happen or is in the process of happening
