Ballot Curing
* I'm posting outside the pinned election thread because this is a general question, not one specific to the 2020 US presidential election. *
A quick Google search states 18 US states go through a process that gives voters the opportunity to fix issues on their submitted ballots. Nevada, for example, allows until 5PM today to get the corrections in and I see on the news that a lot of people are lined up to do this; the line is barely moving.
My question is - do you agree with this process?
For example, if someone forgets to sign their ballot or signs in the wrong spot, should officials try to hunt them down to come do so? Should officials send out certification forms to fill out like they do in North Carolina?
I don't think we have a ballot curing process in Canada (please correct me if I'm mistaken) and it sounds like a lot of work. I understand that all votes are important, but should the extra effort be taken when the mistake was made by the voter?
CORRECTION: Nevada's deadline is actually November 12 (not sure what time). I think the 5PM was today's cut-off.
