What do you consider chicken and dumplings?

Which do you consider to be chicken and dumplings?? Chicken soup with biscuits dropped in and cooked at the end? Or chicken soup with noodles (dumpling noodles) cooked into them.. bonus comment where you are from..  I have heard both but I feel it depends on where you are from!

Dumplings are literally small balls of dough that can be cooked by boiling, frying, or baking in a casserole. Chicken and dumplings is kind of like chicken soup, no noodles, with dough cooked in at the end.

I’m from Louisiana and we’ve always used “biscuits” which are just one inch uncooked dumplings dropped in around the end to cook. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any cooked with noodles. No shade—just never seen it here.

I’m from Cali and have only ever seen it or made it with small scoops of biscuits dough . Noodles ? Wouldn’t that be chicken noodle soup not dumplings

When you say dumpling noodles do you just mean dumpling dough that is rolled out and cut into strips? Because the dumpling can be made like that or like drop dumplings. Same thing to me lol
