I would go with dpo. The average day of implantation is 8 dpo, so 10 dpo would be the average time the more sensitive tests could pick up hcg. 7-8 dpo is the earliest, but that's rare. My LP is only 10 days, so 5-6 days before AF would be far too early for me.
