My 5 month old son's middle name is Louis pronounced as (Lewis). Have I made mistake on pronunciation. How would you pronounce Louis?

You can pronounce it two ways 👍 I say Loo-ee but Lewis is also fine.

I would default to Loo-ee for Louis as a person’s name. I know we have St. Louis the city but for a person’s name I think of King Louis of France first. However, it wouldn’t be something I would think is weird to be pronounced as Lewis.

That’s my husbands middle name, and he pronounces it Louie not Lewis. But it’s after his uncle Louis and they are French and that’s how they pronounce it

I grew up with a kid first name Louis pronounced Lewis. Nobody said it wrong or questioned it 🤷‍♀️ I’ve never thought twice about it until now lol I think it can be pronounced either way.
