Milk storage
So this is long, just a warning
I was so concerned that I would fail at breastfeeding with my second because I did with my first. I was under extreme stress with my first and my supply completely dried up within a month. So with my second I was extra determined to at least get to 6 months, but would love to make it a year. I started pumping when my milk came in on like day 5, because I wanted to stash as much as possible. Of course that caused an oversupply issue but I was fine with it because it's extra to store. Now my second is almost 7 weeks old and I've cut my pump sessions from every 2-3 hours down to about 4 times in a 24 hour period. Baby eats almost entirely straight from breast, has only had 5 bottles his whole life so far. I always pump before I nurse him because he has reflux and I have to. I get about 4-5oz out of one breast and 5-6oz out of the other (I'm trying to fix it where they are equal but oh well). Which when I was pumping every 2-3 hours I was getting 6-8oz out of each breast. Part of me is concerned for letting my supply drop, but honestly I was just so worn out from pumping and nursing non stop so I cut down on pumping.
Anyways, over the almost 7 weeks I've collected a stash of 7 walmart bags stuffed full of milk (in storage bags). I don't even know how many ounces I have, but it's quite a bit. I'm worried about letting my supply get low with the pump sessions, because what if I dry up and then I don't know how long my stored milk will feed LO and I really want to make it to a year.
I guess my question is, when did you all stop pumping to store? I'm tired of pumping and would like to only have to do it like 2x in a 24 hour period, once in the morning and once before bed would be great. But I'm scared I'll dry up and I have no idea how far my stored supply would get me 🤦 Any feedback?
