What could cause this??

Question

This is from June to November and I don't understand why my period is being so sporadic. 4 periods in a course of 6 months one of them lasting twice as long as usual??

The following is my PCOS story.

I had my first period at 9 and was formally diagnosed at 13 and put on the pill.

The OB at children's was rude and told me "Now Patty Anne, this is not a free license to have sex willy nilly." It took all I had not to gut check her. Instead I told her "Boys are gross, boys will always be gross. I am a child, and intend to remain ad such until I see fit. Madam."

I went through 4-5 more OBs like that or I'd explain PCOS to them. The most recent OB has been a genius with my treatment part of which was metformin + and IUD.

Now I've been weaned off metformin because the combination of the IUD Skyla coupled with cutting all soy, beef/dairy products from cows treated with rbst, as well as chia and flax seeds has helped me start ovulating again, reduced my hairiness and helped me drop 30 pounds in 6 months!!

The most exciting development was that we got pregnant with the IUD and we made it to 9 weeks before I miscarried for the 3rd time. For us that is a HUGE VICTORY over PCOS! This also means we may not need phase 2 of our fertility action plan.

Fertility Action Plans are very important, even if you don't have PCOS or are TTC. Managing and staying on top of your reproductive health is ridiculously important!

Our action plan is that I maintain the diet modifications for life.

Then when we want a baby I'll take Skyla out, and get back on metformin for 3 months, no trying. Then we try for 3 months with metformin, if there's no baby; I go in for even more extensive testing, and will probably be declared infertile.  We then add in a drug similar to Clomid for 3 more months. If that doesn't work we either do 2-3 rounds each of IVF, or surrogacy. And if there's still no baby then we'll just adopt the 3-4 children we've always wanted.

Maybe PCOS or hormones out of whack? Look up PCOS and see if you have the other symptoms. Those are pretty long periods. I would ask my OBGYN.
