My fiancé lives in Texas, I live in Canada. I met him online through discord. He saved my life, I went down a very very dark path after leaving my ex, I lost most of my friends because my ex was a very charming pathological liar, and he called me everyday to make sure I was okay. Eventually feelings grew, we started dating, and I flew down to visit him for the first time 8 months into dating him. We took a long time to get to know each other before I could convince my family I was okay flying alone to meet a guy on the internet lol. Three years later we’re engaged, I fly down as often as I can and stay for months at a time. He’s trying to get his full citizenship and a house down there and I’m working towards applying to immigrate. The hardest part is being away from him. My home life isn’t so great, and it’s really painful to be away from each other. I miss his hugs and being able to fall asleep beside him, the first night back in my country I rolled over to put my arm around him and when I realized he wasn’t there I broke down. We call everyday and keep in touch as much as we can, and we both are trying to stay positive as we try to close the distance between us. The whole point of a stable long distance relationship is that it isn’t supposed to stay long distance forever. But from my experience, it’s definitely worth it. We both love and trust each other completely, and there isn’t a single doubt in my mind that I want to marry him and live out the rest of our days together. He’s my best friend, and my better half.

In February I ended a year and a half long LDR and I wouldn’t do it again. For me it was a breeding ground for insecurity. jealousy, and misscommunication

No. Flat out. Distance creates loneliness, even when you communicate over messages and the phone. Loneliness leads to all types of behavior, including cheating. The mind shuts down in a logical way when it's deprived of something its craving (love, affection, closness) therefore any decisions you make can easily be enforced by your mind as ok by the loneliness you're feeling. LDR is a recipe for disaster and heartbreak

I have had two long distance relationships and things were fine and distance was never an issue for me. it’s a matter of trust with any other relationship. When the other person changes their habits and you learn things were not as they were told, sudden hang up or calls you from outside then you need to ask what they might be hiding. However it can be fun, you know getting to know each other, amusing text or videos, Netflix movies together while FaceTiming, try to do things to keep the distance worth it and keep each other amused. It’s fun if you both put work into it.

My bfs in the military so we went thru basic together and now he’s in Iraq for the next year. We love each other so much and every time we see each other for the first time after a while, it’s like we fall in love for the first time all over again. It is hard not being able to hear his voice or have much contact with him, but it helps to think abt when we can see each other again and going through all of the memories we’ve made. It was never a choice for me wether to wait on him or not. I knew I would and their was never any doubt.

I have before a couple times due to how much I moved growing up and it never worked for me but I was also young and have changed a lot since then. My bf and I have been together almost 2 years and expecting our first baby and if for some reason we had to live apart for awhile I would try my hardest to make it work but idk.

I’ve done it twice and they both failed. Seemed like I wanted it to work more than they did and there was no effort on their part. But an old friend of mine married her husband and they were long distance for 2 years and they just had twins. Some people can handle it and others can’t

Um no shade to any LDR’s out there I’m sure it worked out for them but me personally that’s not my thing. I will get bored of just the ft calls and texts. I like the little dates and shit and getting to see your partner frequently.
